Trade Your Topps Cards for a Blaster Replica | Outer Rim Props

Jeff Wilson

That binder of Topps cards sitting in your closet could be a finished blaster replica on your shelf. Outer Rim Props runs a card-to-blaster trade program that lets you trade cards for blaster replicas — or store credit toward anything in the shop. It's the only program like this we've seen in the prop community, and we built it because collectors shouldn't have to choose between hobbies.

How the Trade Program Works

The process is straightforward. Head to our trade submission page, fill out the form, and tell us what you've got. You can upload photos of your cards right there — front and back shots work best, especially for autos, sketch cards, and anything with condition-sensitive value.

Once we receive your submission, we evaluate every card using Beckett pricing and recent eBay sold comps. No guesswork, no lowball flat rates. If a card sold for $40 on eBay last week, that's the ballpark we're working from. We send you a trade value offer, and if you're happy with it, your credit gets applied to anything in the shop.

There's no minimum trade value. Got a handful of base cards and a couple inserts? That's fine. Got a full vintage set from 1977? Even better. We accept it all.

What Cards We Accept

We take all Topps sets — vintage, modern, and everything in between. That includes the original 1977 series, the '80s Empire and Jedi sets, Topps Chrome, Finest, Masterwork, and every hobby release in between. Sketch cards, autograph cards, and relic hits are all fair game too.

The cards that tend to carry the most trade value are sketch cards with recognizable artists, on-card autographs from main cast members, and vintage cards in clean condition. But don't count out your base cards and common inserts — they add up, especially in bulk.

Condition Matters

Just like any card transaction, condition affects value. A mint 1977 Topps #1 Luke Skywalker is a different conversation than one with soft corners and a crease. Send clear photos and be upfront about condition — it makes the evaluation faster and the offer more accurate.

What You Can Get

Trade credit works on the entire shop. Finished blaster replicas, DIY blaster kits, engraved display nameplates, wall art — all of it. You're not locked into a specific product or category.

We've had collectors trade a stack of vintage cards and walk away with a weathered DL-44 for their Han Solo build. Others have put their credit toward a DIY kit and done the painting themselves. The flexibility is the whole point — your cards, your call on how to spend the credit.

Why We Started This

I've been collecting Topps cards since I was a kid, and I've been building props and trooping with the 501st for years. The overlap between card collectors and prop collectors is bigger than most people think. We're the same fans — we just express it differently.

The trade program came out of a simple realization: a lot of collectors have cards they're not actively doing anything with. They're sitting in binders and top loaders, and meanwhile that same collector is eyeing a blaster replica they haven't pulled the trigger on yet. This bridges that gap.

It also means those cards go to someone who actually wants them. We resell traded cards on Whatnot and through our collector network, so they end up with people who are actively building sets and hunting specific pulls.

How to Get the Best Trade Value

A few things that help your submission get a strong offer:

Photograph your best cards individually. Group shots of base cards are fine, but your hits — autos, sketches, numbered parallels — deserve their own clear photos. Include the back of the card for autos and relics so we can verify the certification.

If you've got graded cards (PSA, BGS, CGC), mention the grade and cert number. Graded cards are easier to price accurately and typically earn higher trade values than raw equivalents.

Be specific about what you want from the shop. If you've already got your eye on a particular blaster or kit, mention it in the form. It helps us tailor the offer and speeds up the whole process.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you only accept Topps cards, or other brands too?
Right now the program focuses on Topps cards — they're what we know best and what we can price most accurately. If you've got non-Topps cards you'd like to trade, reach out anyway. We'll take a look, but no guarantees.
Is there a minimum number of cards or trade value to participate?
No minimum. Whether you've got three cards or three hundred, you can submit them. Small trade values just get applied as store credit that you can combine with a regular purchase.
How long does the evaluation take?
Most submissions get a trade offer within a few business days. Larger collections with lots of individual hits can take a bit longer since we comp each card individually.
Can I combine trade credit with a regular payment?
Yes. If your trade credit covers part of a purchase, you can pay the difference with a normal payment method. This is how most people use it — trade credit knocks the price down, and they cover the rest.
