Custom Star Wars Blaster Commissions
Got a blaster in your head that isn't sitting on the shelf? Want your own print or prop to look like it survived a few jumps through the Outer Rim? That's what this page is for. Outer Rim Props is a one-man workshop in Molalla, Oregon, and I take a limited number of custom jobs each month so every one gets full attention.
Current lead time: about 3 weeks · 25% deposit holds your spot · Free custom nameplate with every piece · US shipping only
Custom Blaster Commission Builds
Pick the blaster style, the finish, and the details, and I'll build it to order. Every commission is a handcrafted, fan-made replica built from your spec: clean or battle-worn, standard finish or something wild. Think of it as a one-of-one prop made for you.
- Handcrafted, screen-accurate detail on DL-44-style, E-11-style, and other replica blaster builds
- Three sizes: Small (compact pistol), Medium (full-size pistol or carbine), and Large (up to E-11 size)
- Choose your finish: clean, lightly weathered, or fully battle-worn
- Free custom engraved nameplate with every commission, with its own plaque stand
- Display stand available as an add-on, and you get a photo to approve before it goes out
- Starting at $45 — most builds run $65 to $125, depending on the blaster and finish
Prop Weathering & Finishing
Already have a print, a kit build, or a prop that looks too clean? Ship it to me and I'll age it properly: edge wear, carbon scoring, grime, and metallic dry-brush, sealed so it holds up. Anyone can print a prop. Making it look like it's been through a few firefights is the fun part.
- Works on 3D prints, DIY kit builds, and other fan-made replica props, Small through Large (up to E-11 size)
- Light, medium, or heavy weathering
- Free custom engraved nameplate with every weathering job, with its own plaque stand
- You get a photo to approve before it ships back
- Starting at $25 — quoted from photos before you ship anything
3D Print Service (Quote-Only Add-On)
Send me an STL and I'll print it, with optional finishing and weathering. This one is quote-only because every file is different, and I only take files you made yourself or have the right to use (details in the FAQ below). The free nameplate applies to commissions and weathering jobs, and can be added to print jobs for an extra charge.
- Print only, or print plus paint and weathering
- Small through Large (up to E-11 size)
- Quoted per file based on size, detail, and finish
- I reserve the right to decline any file
How It Works
- Send the request. Fill out the quote form on this page with the service, your prop size, and what you have in mind.
- Get a quote. I'll email you a price and a realistic timeline, usually within 1 day. I'll also ask for photos of your prop (weathering), a link to your file (print), and the text you'd like engraved on your free nameplate.
- Pay the deposit. A 25% deposit locks your spot in the queue.
- Ship it to me (weathering jobs). After your deposit, I email you my shipping address. Pack your prop securely and send it with tracking. I photograph everything when it arrives, and your lead time starts then.
- I build it. I'll send progress photos along the way, and I engrave your nameplate while I'm at it.
- Approve and ship. I send you a photo of the finished piece. Once you approve it, the final balance (including return shipping) is due and it ships back from Oregon.
Custom Work FAQ
How much does a custom blaster commission cost?
Commissions start at $45, and most builds run $65 to $125. The final price depends on the blaster style, size, finish level, and any add-ons like a display stand. You'll get a written quote before paying anything.
How much does weathering cost?
Weathering starts at $25. The final price depends on the size of the prop and how heavy a finish you want, from light edge wear to full battle-worn. You'll get a written quote before paying anything.
What's the free custom nameplate?
Every commission and weathering job includes a laser-engraved nameplate with your choice of text, such as your name, your build's name, or a troop or crew title, and a small plaque stand to display it. I'll ask what you'd like it to say when I send your quote.
How fast will I get a quote?
Usually within 1 day of your request.
How long does a commission take?
Current lead time is about 3 weeks. For weathering jobs, the clock starts when your prop arrives. I'm a one-man workshop and limit how many jobs I take each month, so timing depends on the queue.
What size can you build or weather?
Three sizes: Small (compact pistols), Medium (full-size pistols and carbines), and Large (up to E-11 size). Not sure which fits your prop? Choose "Not sure" on the form and send photos. I don't take anything larger than E-11 size.
Can you weather a prop I already own?
Yes. Send the request and I'll ask for photos, then quote it. Weathering works on 3D prints, DIY kit builds, and other fan-made replica props.
How do I get my prop to you, and how does it come back?
After you approve the quote and pay the deposit, I email you my shipping address. Pack your prop securely and send it with tracking, since you're responsible for it until it arrives. When it lands, I photograph its condition so we're both covered. Return shipping is added to your final invoice, and I send it back with tracking.
Will you print any STL file I send?
Only files you created or have the right to use. By submitting a file, you confirm you own it or have permission to have it printed. I don't print files that appear to be copied or pirated designs, and I don't print anything that presents itself as official or licensed merchandise. I reserve the right to decline any job.
Do you take deposits?
Yes. A 25% deposit holds your spot, and the balance is due when you approve the finished work.
What if my print fails or the file has problems?
If your file has issues that affect printing, I'll tell you before I start, and we'll decide together how to proceed. Print-only jobs are quoted with that in mind, and I can't guarantee results from files with geometry or detail problems.
Do you ship custom work internationally?
Not right now. Custom work ships within the United States only.
